Issue 9 launch party

Please come launch issue 9 with us this Saturday, May 1, at 177 Livingston Street in Brooklyn. Reading at 7 pm, party until late.

It’s $3 at the door for subscribers, $10 for everyone else. If your subscription has lapsed, now would be an excellent time to remedy that. Admission includes an Issue 9 and, as always, access to the subsidized bar. After all it’s May Day.

7pm: David Noriega will read from Juan Villoro’s piece on Mexican cartels and Thomas Leveritt, author of Issue 9’s “The Exchange Rate between Lust and Money,” will read from his work in a rare New York appearance .

Slightly later: The super-group Soldiers of Fortune will be playing. Soldiers of Fortune is Mike Bones, Matt Sweeney (Chavez, Johnny Cash, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy), Pat Sullivan (Oakley Hall, formerly Oneida), Barry London (Oneida), with Kid Millions (Oneida, People of the North, Ex Models) on the drums. Prepare to go partly deaf.

Later still: Dance party.

177 Livingston is an arts and performance space; this party is being hosted by our friends at the online magazine Triple Canopy.
