In this installment of our monthly podcast, Daniel Smith interviews Jo Ann Beard about her recent novel, In Zanesville.  Beard, whose last book was the acclaimed essay collection The Boys of My Youth (1998), talks about the merger of fact and fiction, her attempt to write a young-adult novel, her passion for writing about animals and kids, and being a lifelong “sidekick.”
